Panorama – BHS: How did it happen?
The way in which millions of pounds were made out of BHS has been branded the ‘unacceptable face of capitalism’. 11,000 people lost their jobs as a black hole opened up in the pension fund. For this expose on the business antics of ‘Sir Philip’ we created a stylised High St. populated by Sir Philip and Lady Green and his business partners. The only character missing was the luxury Yacht but that may happen if we have to revisit the Greens again.
When Television Goes Horribly Wrong
For this programme we built our own CGI television studio which formed the backing for celebrity interviews and off course we created the large hanging studio title which breaks away from it’s supports and crashes downwards providing some indication of what is to follow in this 3 hour extravaganza.
9-11: Truth, Lies & Conspiracies
15 years after the events of 9/11, many Americans believe all types of conspiracies theories. But this documentary concentrates on the lack of transparency from US Government agencies about the Hijackers themselves, who helped them and their links to Saudi Arabian officialdom.
Stealing Paradise – An Aljazeera Investigation
Al Jazeera investigates the islands of Maldives and finds that behind the idyllic destination that attracts so many honeymooners lies endemic corruption. Evidence of this dark side was uncovered on 10GB of data extracted from the former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s mobile phone. Our motion graphics were used throughout to detail the SMS conversations, explain how the embezzling works, provide profiles of our main characters and generally to add some stylish welding of the storyline. See evidence below or watch the full documentary here.
How School Bosses Spend your Millions – Dispatches
This is our homage to Grange Hill. Well we had to get around to it at some time. Comic strip effects where added to rushes and staccato video and added typographic onomatopoeia completed the mix. The doc was directed and produced by Charlie Mole from Blakeway Television.
Brexit: The Big Debate Live
Presented by Alastair Stewart, this studio debate required titles, bumpers, straps and large scale printed panels designed by Toni Marshall. An ITN Production for C4.
The Final Referendum Debate with Jeremy Paxman
Printed panels, cue cards, animated chapter stings, titles, bumpers & animated namestraps formed our contribution to the big C4 debate on the eve of the EU Referendum with Paxo. Everything was built using very simple elements so as to keep the designs quite abstract and unbiased. Moving arrows, UK outlines, stars, stripes and printed dot textures were overlaid allowing multiple colours and patterns to emerge and provide a quite vibrant backing for the nuances of the debate to occur. An ITN Production for C4.
Conspiracy Theories – Who shot down MH17
A BBC production, where our graphics helps examine the evidence behind the various theories behind the downing of Malaysia Airlines Fight 17. From looking at doctored images, to proving the validity of real photographs, this project was quite a challenge and I’m guessing the documentary will be forensically poured over by the conspiracy theorists. Please look at some of the highlights below, emphasising our motion graphics input. Produced and directed by Mike Rudin from the BBC.
Britain’s Modern Slave Trade – An AlJazeera Investigation
In a new programme ‘Al Jazeera Investigates’ examine ‘modern slavery’ in the UK. To accompany the programme we also produced an online explainer which attempts to shed some light on the whole process of getting into Britain illegally and the grim prospects that await some migrants. The explainer and full documentary film is presented by David Harrison. The full film can be viewed on YouTube here Al Jazeera Investigates – Britain’s Modern Slave Trade. The Online Explainer is below.
