Smart devices and the latest technological gadgets give us remote control of our homes and our cars – but how safe are they? Reporter Fiona Phillips investigates… To help highlight the nature of the smart homes vulnerabilities we built a model of the owners house and textured it so it appeared as a normal flat illustration. We could populate the rooms with animated characters and numerous smart devices all transmitting data awaiting capture from the hacker. Directed and Produced by Christopher Hardy for Hardcash Productions.

Cricket’s Match Fixers
Over 18 months of investigations, Medioto worked with Aljazeera’s Investigative Unit and helped reveal how criminal gangs bribe players and officials to fix matches and parts of matches – and make millions from betting on guaranteed outcomes. The initial inspiration for the designs came from Bollywood posters and obviously some of the title text echo the old fashioned scoreboards on the cricket ground. Apart from the obvious title-card, we built profile animations, explainers for the uninitiated cricket fans, test match chapter headings, phone call animations, document/newspaper sequences and the players and authorities ‘right of reply’. There’s a montage below and

Exposure – Great Ormand St. Hospital – EGID
A department treating sick children within Great Ormand Street Hospital has been found mis-diagosing & over treating patients. This documentary from ‘Amazing Productions’ uses our animated explainers to demonstrate how Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease (EGID) is diagnosed and the scale of the problem and number of patients treated by GOSH leading to the closure of this departments. The Oligarchs
Using styling borrowed from agitprop posters from Soviet Russia, Medioto helped Aljazeera’s Investigative Unit unravel a plot hatched by powerful Eastern European oligarchs to make millions of dollars from a crooked deal involving a web of offshore companies and international lawyers to raid US$160 million dollars under the noses of the authorities. The Oligarchs include an exiled gas billionaire guarded by Russian special forces, a Moscow property magnate and an Olympic show jumper on the run from Ukrainian authorities. Throughout these deliberately murky, opaque dealings our motion graphics hopefully simpilfy the processes involved in money laundering and the formation of

The inside story of how and why the worst Ebola outbreak in history wasn’t stopped before it was too late. Football’s Wall of Silence – Al Jazeera Investigations & C4 Dispatches
Former youth football coach Barry Bennell, one of the top talent spotters in Britain with ties to major clubs like Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra, spent his days coaching children and his nights abusing them. Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit reporter, Deborah Davies first reported on Bennell’s crimes 20 years ago. She has befriended his victims and has a rare insight into their plight. Our efforts were spent bringing the specific details in various documents to light which exposed his deeds and often show the turning of a blind eye to his crimes on the part of the clubs and governing

Spy Merchants – An Al Jazeera Investigation
We helped the Washington based Al Jazeera Investigations team uncover the murky world of selling surveillance equipment, often to anyone willing to pay, regardless of the government, end user or final usage. Titles, subtitles, as well as all the visual effects and explainer graphic sequences are spread over 47 mins which as not an easy feat considering that there’s barely a minute free of overlays and VFX. To see the whole programme which was beautifully shot and directed by Colin MacIntyre and brilliantly edited by Nicholas Dove, click on this link.
