Al Jazeera investigates the islands of Maldives and finds that behind the idyllic destination that attracts so many honeymooners lies endemic corruption. Evidence of this dark side was uncovered on 10GB of data extracted from the former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s mobile phone. Our motion graphics were used throughout to detail the SMS conversations, explain how the embezzling works, provide profiles of our main characters and generally to add some stylish welding of the storyline. The characters are brought in with small sticks and offbeat movement to keep it quirky. The colours and type echo old Saul Bass shorts. The information is brought in with scrolls which were also printed and used within the show.

This Rize USA production tells the incredible story of 20-year old Gemma Barker, who disguised herself as a boy so she could date girls. The scandal made the headlines around the world earlier this year and Gemma was since sent to prison for fraud and sexual assault. She created three boys Aaron, Luke and Conner who dressed and spoke differently, had their own Facebook page, email and phone number. Then, in the guise of these three boys Gemma deceived two young girls into having sex.
