Using styling borrowed from agitprop posters from Soviet Russia, Medioto helped Aljazeera’s Investigative Unit unravel a plot hatched by powerful Eastern European oligarchs to make millions of dollars from a crooked deal involving a web of offshore companies and international lawyers to raid US$160 million dollars under the noses of the authorities. Here’s our latest Grocery Aid animation. Several little scenes tell stories of the many people helped by the charity. The tone of the animation plays with sensitive subject matter such as sudden illnesses, money worries and caring responsibilities which grocery workers might encounter over their lifetime. We worked with the director Steve Grandison to illustrate the near impossibility of a black British infant growing up and becoming our Prime Minister via some quite shocking statistics blocking any advancement. In a new programme ‘Al Jazeera Investigates’ examine ‘modern slavery’ in the UK. To accompany the programme we also produced an online explainer which attempts to shed some light on the whole process of getting into Britain illegally and the grim prospects that await some migrants. The scope of their work is broad, but it’s all centred on saving lives through the direct provision of first aid through educational visits and training programmes. We have created a short film which demonstrate the wide reach and impact of their work to a variety of different audiences in the last year. The concept was to follow the journey of ‘a spark of life’ and imagine why it is so important to preserve that spark via some simple first aid lessons.
